Guys, I've long enjoyed the site, especially the Barfly Chronicles. I can honestly say I have yet to see a site that really has the feel of Scowl,Nu (And I can read it on my Palm Pilot now!&#41. Keep it up.

8/4/99 Fireseek.com's Tinu (the creator of Fireseek, a writing/poetry search engine&#41 had this to say about Scowl, Nu?:

In Our Writing Category, we have the Online Journal to beat all Online Journals (well, it ties with another, but that's next week!&#41

…I must say, if there were more sites on the web like yours, Janet and Avery, less people would be so disenchanted with the Internet. Hopefully you are the future. I think your site is great- it got me to change the resolution on most of my monitors!

Random Site of the Day

5/25/99 Janet's February 1 Scowl was nominated for the 1st quarter 1999 “Best Rant” award in the Diarist Awards.

Random Site of the Day

4/8/99 This is just a brief email letting you know that your site was selected as the Random Site of the Day for April 8, 1999. (Yeah, I'm behind.&#41 In other words, I hit “random” on the Open Pages webring and your site popped up!

Your page was one of the best I've found. I really enjoyed everything I read, and I only scratched the surface so far. The writing is brilliant, the design is wonderful–it's great stuff. I've recommended it to several of my friends, and I will continue to do so.

Computer Currents Link of the Week

1/25/99 Computer Currents Interactive, the online arm of Computer Currents Magazine selected Scowl, Nu? as a site of the week for the week of 1/25/99. Does this mean that we finally hit the big time?

This ezine features a chatty chronicle of life in San Francisco; comparisons of restaurants on the East and West Coasts; expert advice on beers, airlines, and body piercing; and columns about what makes the writers smirk and scowl. Also found here are the Barfly Chronicles, a regular column about the bar scene in San Francisco, and the Lower Haight Resource Guide, which lists shops and services in San Francisco's Lower Haight District. A message board gives readers a chance to join the fun.

No Picture for this award. Sorry.

Key Award!

I was quite impressed after reviewing your web site. I would like to present you with the New Key Site Award for excellence in web design. Your website was interesting. The design and navigation were of good quality and the content was original. It is sites such as yours that make browsing the web and doing reviews so interesting. Out of over 180 Key Site submissions a day, only about 7-10% win. You can be proud, this puts your site in good company! Once again, congratulations on a job well done and the best of luck to you in the future.

nuweb of the day

7/13/98 On behalf of this e-mail, we would like to inform you that your website has been chosen as the “nuweb of the day” for July 14, 1998.
